We’re already looking forward to seeing you again next year for a night of music, dance and lively conversations on 23 May 2025! To shorten the wait until then, you may revisit the evening through film and photographs – we hope you enjoy them. A look back at the Concordia Ball 2024On Friday, 24 May 2024, the Vienna City Hall once again became the stage for the elegant summer traditional ball of the Concordia Press Club. With a cosmopolitan audience from over 50 countries, the media, art and culture sector set a strong example for independent journalism. The message of the evening: Celebrating freedom of expression!
With classic ballroom dance music, swing, Latin tunes, a fantastic 70s retro band and an open-air disco in the arcade yard, a varied and vibrant atmosphere was guaranteed. As always, the quadrille was a special highlight, showcasing the lively interplay between order and chaos, a cherished tradition of the Concordia Ball. |

The “Concordia Journalists’ and Writers’ Association” was founded in Vienna in 1859. To this day it defends press freedom, cultivates civil discourse, and advocates for responsible journalism.
In 1863, Concordia organised a grand dance event. It was meant to reflect the growing importance of free journalism for society. The Concordia Ball was thus born, and it soon became the highlight of Vienna’s festival season.
The Strauss family dedicated a number of compositions to Concordia, and waltz king Johann Strauss delighted the crowd by personally conducting the orchestra on many a legendary Concordia Ball night.
Today more than ever, the Concordia Press Club is committed to keeping journalism free and vibrant.
Join us for another night of music, dancing, and lively conversation on 25 May 2025!
