The “Concordia Journalists’ and Writers’ Association” was founded in Vienna in 1859. As the Concordia Press Club, it continues to fight for free and independent journalism to this day. 
 
​In 1863, Concordia organised a grand dance event. The Concordia Ball was thus born and became the highlight of Vienna’s glittering ball season.

Over the years, Johann Strauss Jr. wrote numerous compositions for the Concordia Ball. To the delight of the dancers, the Waltz King himself stood at the conductor's podium on many legendary ball nights.

For one magical night, Vienna’s most beautiful summer ball turns the historic City Hall into the city’s most vibrant ballroom, hosting around 3,000 guests from around the world.

Celebrating the 125th Concordia Ball!

The Concordia Press Club hosted the city's most beautiful summer ball on 23 May 2025, which celebrated independent journalism and democratic values. The 125th Concordia Ball showcased dialogue and diversity of opinion. Against the magnificent backdrop of Vienna City Hall, around 3,000 enthusiastic guests from around the globe enjoyed dancing until the early morning hours.
