The Concordia Ball Night's Program on Friday, June 14th 2019
The 2019 Concordia Ball celebrates Italy's cultural diversity and richness under the motto 'Una Notte Italiana'.
In the Festival Hall, the Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra with the conductor Uwe Theimer and the pt art orchestra conducted by Norbert Hebertinger will play the very best of classical dance music for you.
In the Senate Chamber, the Charly Hloch Trio will spoil you with boogie woogie, blues, rock'n'roll and, especially for our Concordia Ball guests, with danceable, groovy, jazz classics and swinging evergreens.
CHOSN aka DJ L. Rock is waiting to satisfy your music wishes in the outdoor dance floor of the Arcade Yard. His musical repertoire ranges from all-time classics, summer hits and italo sounds up to the newest hits from the charts.

Are you attending the Concordia Ball with a group of friends but without a dance partner? Are you going with a partner who enjoys the atmosphere but is not necessarily enthusiastic about dancing? Do you have any favourite dance but no companion for it? Or would you simply like to dance with a different gentleman?
The Concordia Ball offers an 'Isle of Men' – outstanding dance partners will be available to dance waltz, foxtrot, tango, cha cha, rumba, samba or boogie with our female guests.
Artists & Musicians
Alfons is an internationally-renowned Austrian actor, singer, TV host and cabaret artist. After training at the Conservatory of Vienna and the Lee Strasberg Institute in Los Angeles, he became a major television and theatre star in French- and German-speaking Europe. Alfons’ primary motivation is to entertain his audience, whether they’re in the theatre or in front of their TVs. Alfons Haider supports several charity projects.
Mariam Battistelli is an Italian soprano who was born in Ethiopia. She studied at the Lucio Campiani conservatoire in Mantova. The Italian citizen and multiple award winner is performing not only on the opera stage, but also in concerts. From June 2013 until July 2016 Mariam Battistelli joined the Centre of Perfeccionament Placido Domingo in Valencia. Since the beginning of 2018 she has been part of the Wiener Staatsoper Ensemble.
Chris Lachmuth: Dancing School Chris
Dance has been part of this former tournament dancer's life since childhood. Together with the Dancing School Chris, he will stage the impressive Opening Ceremony of the Concordia Ball. The Dancing School Chris offers year-round and daily opportunities to learn – or simply improve – one of the most famous traditional dances.
Uwe Theimer: The Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra
The Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra, founded in 1982 and directed by Uwe Theimer, devotes itself to performing dance music of the 18th and 19th centuries in Europe and around the world. The orchestra's repertoire includes compositions from the Strauss dynasty and its contemporaries, music from Robert Stolz and popular pieces from operettas. The orchestra has performed in most major European cities, as well as around the world.
Norbert Hebertinger: pt art orchestra
The pt art orchestra, foundet in 1924 and directed by Norbert Hebertinger, provides a wide repertoire of music for various events in Austria and abroad. Special features are string players and international vocal artists accompanying the orchestra. Be it as dance, brass or philharmonic orchestra, pt art is internationally acknowledged for its flexibility, longstanding experience and swinging evergreens.
Charly Hloch Trio
Charly Hloch on piano, Gerhard Wessely on sax and Wolfgang Bäck on drums bring you boogie woogie, blues, rock'n'roll and, especially for the Concordia Ball, danceable, groovy, jazz classics and swinging evergreens.
I Ragazzi Cattivi a.k.a The Mauvais Garcons
I Ragazzi Cattivi are making an offer nobody can deny: Italian pop songs from the 50s and 60s that will make you dance, move your hips and even kiss someone next to you. Sometimes I Ragazzi Cattivi take the train through Ventimiglia to visit Francia, sometimes they cross the ocean to meet their Italian Uncle in America! Wherever they go, they never forget their instruments Ukulele, Guitar, Trumpet, Bass and Drums and they always wear Italian suits and ties. La Mamma always told them that this is what to impress le ragazze!
CHOSN a.k.a DJ L. Rock
Johannes Willrader is a passionate DJ since the mid-1990s. He's also know as CHOSN aka DJ L. Rock. With his individually adapted music mix, he's ensuring the best mood on his dance floors across Europe at hip and exclusive events.
We welcome your immediate application for becoming a participant of the festive opening of Vienna's glamorous and most tradition-rich summer ball: The Concordia Ball. As usual, the ball will take place in the festively decorated rooms and arcade courtyard of Vienna's City Hall. One of the highlights of Concordia Ball is the entry and dancing performance of the debutante committee.
Couples in the age of 18 to 29, good dancing skills (Linkswalzer).
Ladies: floor-length snow-white ball gown, white shoes, white gloves
Gentlemen: tuxedo (white tuxedo shirt, black bow tie), black patent leather shoes, black socks, white gloves
Get together and first ball rehearsal: Press Club Concordia
On Thursday, April 11th 2019 at 7.00pm all debutante ladies and gentlemen will be invited to a first 'get together' with music and a welcome drink in the premises of The Press Club Concordia, Bankgasse 8, 1010 Vienna where they will learn about the sequence of the Ball followed by the first ball rehearsal.
Rehearsal dates: Dancing School Chris
To encourage all dancers to participate in rehearsals we offer several dates on different days and times although three of which is mandatory to attend. You are free to make your most suitable choice of dates, but it is binding, and you have to announce your choice at registration. The dancing school Chris is located in Wehlistrasse 150, 1020 Vienna.
Thursday, May 23rd 2019 from 6.15 to 7.15pm
Sunday, May 26th from 7.00 to 8.00pm
Friday, May 31st from 6.00 to 7.00pm
Thursday, June 6th from 6.15 to 7.15pm
There's no specific dress code for rehearsals at the dancing school Chris, with one exception: Dance shoes are mandatory!
Final rehearsal (attendance required): Tuesday, June 11th 2019 7 – 9pm,

The entry contribution accounts for € 25,00 per person. The young ladies and gentlemen can enjoy the ball till the closing time at 4am. Debutantes receive vouchers for food and beverages and the young dames may retain their tiaras.
Register with your dance partner for the entry committee and look forward to a magnificent ball night. Dancing school Chris promises a wonderful atmosphere even at the ball rehearsals with its buoyant choreography.
